Benussi Brunch – Jessica Bagley Q&A

Last week we caught up with our very own Jessica Bagley. We had virtual brunch and asked some questions that would allow our clients and followers the chance to get to know her a little better.

1. What is your role within the business?

I am a paralegal, I assist the solicitors with whatever they need. I finished University last year, I would quite like to within the business watch and learn from the best for a year or two then take my LPC and become a solicitor myself.

2. How long have you worked at Benussi & Co?

I have been lucky enough that Helen and Diane allowed me to spend the summer on work experience each year whilst I studied at university, which has helped me. When I passed and left Bristol University in June 2020 I was asked if I would like to join Benussi & Co as a paralegal which I was thrilled about and accepted.

3. What do you enjoy about working for Benussi & Co?

I never saw myself in this position, if you would have asked me when I was doing my A-Levels what I would be doing in the future, I wouldn’t have thought I would be working for one of the UK’s most reputable family law firms. Just the fact that I am here is just really enjoyable for me. The team are just so helpful if I ever need anything or I’m unsure of something there are so many knowledgeable people I can turn to within the firm.

4. What are your thoughts on COVID-19/National Lockdowns and how it has affected relationships and married couples getting divorced?

Good question, I mean lockdown has been so difficult for everyone and I think at the minute it is producing a boiling pot situation for people in their homes. I feel that in some ways it is a good thing for people as it will help them realise that their relationship is not working out and they are not happy in their current situation.

5. What would be the best piece of advice that you would give to a friend who is contemplating divorce?

If you know that divorce is what you want and you cannot see your relationship getting any better, then definitely go for it. Make sure you do your research and find the right firm for you, make sure you find a firm who really care, a firm like us. (Great plug there Jessica, I like your style!)

6. What is your go-to naughty Friday afternoon lunch in the office?

Ooooh, Anything from Pret-A-Manger, well anything Vegetarian from Pret. I would say my go-to is the Halloumi and Chipotle Wrap.

7. What is different about Benussi & Co compared to other family law firms?

For me it is the fact that we are a family-owned firm, we are a very close-knit firm. There is so much knowledge within the business that we always can come together and do what is right for our clients.

8. You are hosting a dinner party, which three guests would you invite?

Louis Theroux for sure, Freddie Mercury and probably Florence Welsh from Florence and The Machine just because she is my all-time favourite singer, yeah, that’s who I would go for.
